Welcome to Somni, a dream journaling and AI interpretation app developed by Empire K, Inc. ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the Somni mobile application ("App"). By using Somni, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We do not use your dream content to train AI models, sell your data to advertisers, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Somni relies on the following third-party services to function. Each service has its own privacy policy, linked below.

Supabase — Database and authentication provider. Your account credentials, dream entries, and profile data are stored in Supabase's infrastructure (hosted on AWS). Supabase encrypts data at rest and in transit.

Anthropic (Claude AI) — Powers the AI dream interpretation, pattern analysis, mood guide, and in-app chat features. When you request an interpretation or chat with an AI guide, the text of your dream or chat message is sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic does not use API data to train their models by default.

OpenAI (Whisper) — Powers voice-to-text transcription when you record a dream using your microphone. Your audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription and is not stored after the transcription is returned.

RevenueCat — Manages in-app purchase entitlements and subscription status for Somni Pro. RevenueCat receives your App Store receipt and assigns you an anonymous subscriber ID.

Expo (Expo Notifications) — Provides push notification infrastructure. Your device push token is registered with Expo's notification service to deliver reminders you have opted into.

5. Data Storage and Security

All account data is stored in Supabase, which uses AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit. Row-level security (RLS) policies ensure that each user can only access their own data — even at the database level, one user's dreams cannot be read by another user's session.

Passwords are never stored in plain text. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth, which uses bcrypt hashing.

Dream content sent to Anthropic or OpenAI for AI processing is transmitted over HTTPS and is not retained by those services beyond the immediate API response (subject to their respective retention policies).

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

8. Children's Privacy

Somni is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at info@mysomni.app and we will delete the information promptly.

9. Push Notifications

Somni may send you push notifications to remind you to log your dreams at your chosen time each night, and to alert you if your streak is at risk of being broken. These notifications are entirely opt-in. You will be asked for permission the first time you launch the app. You can change your notification preferences at any time in the app's Settings or in your device's system notification settings. We do not send marketing or promotional push notifications.

10. Subscriptions (Somni Pro)

Somni Pro is an auto-renewing subscription available through the Apple App Store. Subscription purchases and renewals are processed by Apple; we receive only confirmation of your entitlement status via RevenueCat. We do not process, store, or have access to your payment card information.

To cancel your subscription, manage it through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds beyond what Apple's standard App Store refund policy provides.

11. International Data Transfers

Somni is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our third-party service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

Where required by applicable law (e.g., GDPR), we rely on standard contractual clauses or other appropriate transfer mechanisms to protect your data when it is transferred internationally.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of Somni after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
